Odds Are Oil Won't Reach Sanibel Island

The latest figures from the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) put the odds of oil reaching the pristine beaches of Sanibel Island at less than 1%. This is great news for Sanibel Island residents, businesses and vacationers who make Sanibel Island their vacation destination.
To date there hasn't been any sightings of oil from the Deep Horizon on the southwestern Florida Islands or coastline of southern Florida.
This latest model of the spill is based on the spill from day one and historical weather and current patterns.
NOAA will continue to closely monitor the movement of the oil slick and develop daily 72-hour forecast projections. NOAA will also produce updated models of the long-term outlook as new data are gathered. See http://www.noaa.gov/ to stay up on the latest oil spill news.
