Summer season has arrived and the Island Inn awaits! Bring the whole family out to the Island Inn for the 4^th of July! Start the 4^th of July off with the 30^th Annual Independence Day Parade down the stretch of Periwinkle Way. Many of Sanibel and Captiva’s local businesses, organizations and community members participate in the parade handing out candy, flags and koozies from their widely decorated and patriotic vehicles. The parade will start at 9:30am beginning at the corner of Tarpon Bay Road and Periwinkle Way and will travel down Periwinkle Way to Casa Ybel Road.

After you’ve gotten your fill of candy, jump in line to participate in Sanibel’s longest running 4^th of July event. This year will be the 42^nd year that the Optimist Club’s Road Rally will take place. Grab your family or gather a team and prepare to rally against others as you follow a predetermined course around both islands while solving puzzles and guessing for clues. Prizes will be awarded for time, mileage and for the team with the most correct answers to the quiz. Choose your team and go to the Optimist Club’s website to register ASAP, as the deadline to do so is June 27^th!

When dusk approaches, head to the Causeway islands and finish off the holiday with a boom! Sanibel residents and visitors will gather to watch fireworks glistening off the waters of the Gulf. Pick a cozy spot with family and friends and experience a fireworks display like no other. The big show will start just after dark on Monday, July 4 and will be launched from Bailey Road on the bay side of the Island. Make sure to get to the causeway early to ensure the best view! Or, if you’d rather spend the evening out on the water, join Adventures In Paradise presents the Sanibel Fireworks Cruise! Complimentary soft drinks, bottle water and snacks! Feel free to B.Y.O.B! Listening to tropical music, you will cruise the tranquil waters of San Carlos Bay, by “Bird Island”. Watch the Sunset and then catch a great view of the Sanibel Fireworks!
