Beach attendance on Sanibel Island Beaches were at record highs this past June. Up 24 percent, the beaches saw more than an $80,000 dollar increase in revenues for the month of June.
This is great news for resorts, hotels, restaurant owners and vacationers alike. Bottom line, it means the beaches are clean and oil free! In a recent interview, Sanibel City Manager Judith Zimomra stated that “Our beaches are pristine and in excellent condition…and our summer visitors are here.” and “Activity at Sanibel’s beaches is a major economic indicator for our community and our region. Thus, we are committed to maintaining this great asset to world-class destination standards.”
The increase of attendance does not mean crowded beaches. Sanibel Island has over 24 miles of shoreline with almost half of that exclusively Gulf of Mexico shoreline!
